Description
More than 70,000 years ago, a clan of prehistoric cave dwellers roamed the expansive European continent and parts of Western Asia. They were Neandertals, distant cousins of modern man. The Neandertal caves that have since been excavated by experts have revealed much about the history of this ancient species. However, recent discoveries have prompted more questions and mysteries among historians and archeologists. In the course of history, no other prehistoric group has received as much attention as the Neandertals. Carrying a weight of scientific and popular misconceptions, Neandertals have often been associated with the controversial characteristics of savage brutality and stupidity. Certain fossil records place the last Neandertal on earth approximately 30,000 years ago. Then they vanished. Or did they?
