Description
Batman was the first popular television show to be based on a comic book strip, and it opened the floodgates for a host of successors. Starring Adam West and Burt Ward, the show was supported by an ambitious budget that allowed for the creation of lavish sets and props like the famous Batmobile (a modified 1955 Lincoln Futura). The show was an immediate success - despite its unorthodox twice-a-week schedule in which the first nights episode almost always ended in a cliffhanger to be resolved the following night.
